We start 2006 with a growing amount of social software. Author's in wikipedia define the trend as:

Social software enables people to rendezvous, connect or collaborate
through computer-mediated communication and to form online communities.

In the European educational context we see the first attempts to make connections between these new tools and some succesfull educational models, partly derived from the reform educational heritage of the 20th century.

There is a growing awareness that a consistent educational philosophy is the basic component for a beneficial integration of all new tools.
